What makes the Southern Serengeti special during this time?

This is calving season, when more than 500,000 wildebeest give birth on the southern plains. It’s one of the finest seasons to watch baby animals, predators in action, and stunning natural scenes.

The itinerary includes Lake Manyara National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, the community of Mto wa Mbu, and the southern grasslands of Serengeti. These places include a combination of scenery, animals, and cultural experiences.

Yes. December to March is the best time to visit Tanzania to view wildebeest calves being born. Travelers typically see thousands of them being born with predators like lions and hyenas following the herds closely.

Of course. Families, wildlife lovers, and photographers will love it, with its abundance of animals, fascinating interactions between predators and prey, and opportunities to get up close.

The northern Serengeti safari is all about spectacular river crossings (July to September), whereas the southern safari is all about calving season, young animals, and encounters between predators. This makes for a totally distinct migratory experience.

Guests sleep in cozy safari lodges and tented camps, and meals are provided. The camps are in the right places to keep you near the Great Migratory activities and give you an authentic wilderness experience.
