The classic combo, sorted

Tanzania gives you the wildlife. Zanzibar gives you the wind-down. Put them together and you get the best two weeks in East Africa: lions and elephants on the plains, then your toes in the Indian Ocean. The tricky part is the joins, the flights, the timing, the transfers. That's the part we handle, so you never have to think about it.

You book once, with one team, and the whole trip just flows.

When to go

One trip, two climates

The good news for a combo: the safari and the beach peak at the same time.

Wildebeest crossing the Mara River
Best for both

June to October

Dry-season game viewing and the Mara River crossings on safari, cool low-humidity weather and the best beach conditions on the island. The standout window, and it books out early.

Dolphins off the Zanzibar coast
AU summer

December to March

The calving season on the southern Serengeti, and hot, dry, peak beach weather on Zanzibar. The Australian-summer-holiday window, and a lovely time to travel.

Flamingos and dramatic green-season skies
Worth knowing

Avoid Apr-May

The long rains. Some beach hotels close and the islands are at their wettest. November's short rains are less disruptive. We'll steer you to the right weeks.

The practical questions

Good to know before you ask

How does the safari-to-beach bit actually work?+
A short scheduled flight, around 1.5 to 2 hours, takes you from the Serengeti or Arusha straight to Zanzibar. No long road transfers, no backtracking. We book every flight and transfer, so you finish your last game drive and your next stop is the beach.
When is best for both safari and beach?+
June to October is the sweet spot, dry-season game viewing plus the best beach weather. December to March is the Australian-summer option, calving season on safari and hot, clear beach days. We'd steer you away from the April-May long rains.
Do we need a separate visa for Zanzibar?+
No, your Tanzania eVisa covers Zanzibar. There is a mandatory visitor insurance of USD 44 per person, bought online before you travel, plus a small infrastructure tax of USD 5 per person per night collected by your hotel. We send the links and flag both in your pre-departure pack.
How do we get there from Australia?+
Fly into Kilimanjaro for the safari and home out of Zanzibar, or the reverse. Ethiopian via Singapore and Addis, or Qantas via Johannesburg, around 22 to 24 hours. Economy returns sit AUD 1,800 to 2,800 booking 3 to 4 months out. We never route via the Gulf hubs.
Is it good for honeymooners and families?+
It's the classic Australian honeymoon and family combination. The safari delivers the once-in-a-trip wildlife, the beach gives you the downtime to enjoy it. We match the lodges and hotels to whether you want romance, room for the kids, or a bit of both.
Jackson Potter and Pete Nanyaro on safari in Tanzania

No middlemen, just us

It started with a beer in the Serengeti

Back in 2023 I took my mum to Tanzania. Pete was our guide. By the end of the week we'd shared more beers than I can count and I'd made a mate for life.

I'm a country-town kid from Australia, spent years in construction before this. Pete grew up in Karatu, right on the doorstep of the parks, and he's one of the best guides in the country. Three years on, we run Kingse together.

I design your trip from the Gold Coast. Pete runs the safari on the ground, and we line up the flights and the island so it all feels like one holiday, not two bookings stapled together. No agents, no call centre. You get the two of us, start to finish.

“Everyone should be so lucky to have someone like Peter guide them through Tanzania. His 20+ years of experience mean he can predict animal behaviour, knows where to go and where to stop, and how to position the vehicle for the best views and most exciting encounters.”

“Peter was more than a guide. He became our friend. He found game that others were not seeing and was able to cater to our whole family’s needs, including our son’s neurodiverse requirements on long journeys. One of the most magical experiences of our life.”
