A safari camp on the Tanzania plains

Where You'll Stay

The camps and lodges we actually put our travellers in, across the Northern Tanzania circuit. See where each one sits, what it's like, and who it suits.

Knowing the difference

A "lodge" and a "camp" are very different nights, and the right mix is half of what makes a safari feel right. Here's how we think about it, so you know what you're picking.

Tented Camp

Canvas under the stars, right in the wild. Proper beds, ensuite bathrooms, the sounds of the bush at night. Closest to the action.

Safari Lodge

Solid walls, a pool, a view over a valley or waterhole. More space and comfort, a good base for families and longer stays.

Hotel

Town and gateway stays, usually either side of your arrival. Easy, reliable, close to the airport and a hot shower.

Beach Resort

The Zanzibar wind-down after the dust. Sand, sea and a slower pace to round the trip off.

Four comfort levels

Budget

Honest, comfortable camps and lodges. Everything you need, nothing you don't.

Mid-Range

Characterful lodges with a bit more polish, space and a pool. The sweet spot for most.

Luxury

Premium camps and lodges in the best positions, with the service to match.

Top-Luxury

The marquee names, the rim-edge views, the once-you're-there-you-get-it places.
