Booking With Kingse
Booking a safari is a big decision, and you shouldn't hand over a deposit without knowing what comes next. Here's every step, from your first message to the flight home, with the payment terms in plain English.
The short version: you talk to us first, you see a full itinerary and quote before you pay anything, a 50% deposit confirms your booking, and the balance is due 60 days before you arrive.
At a glance
This covers our private, tailored safaris. Our group departure has its own payment plan on the group safari page.
Use the contact form, email [email protected], or call 1800 KINGSE (1800 546 473) or WhatsApp +61 492 037 622. Tell us roughly when you'd like to go, who's coming and what you'd love to see. You'll usually hear back the same day. There's nothing to pay and no obligation.
We'll set up a call to hear what you have in mind: dates, group, pace, budget and what matters most. You're talking to the team that plans and runs your trip, not a call centre.
We build your itinerary around that conversation and send it with a clear quote in Australian dollars (pounds for UK travellers), showing your route, where you'll stay and what's included. You're welcome to ask for changes before you confirm. Nothing is booked yet, so availability can shift until you do. Still deciding? Try our cost estimator.
When you're happy, you sign your itinerary confirmation and we send an invoice from Kingse Safaris Pty Ltd for a 50% deposit, payable by bank transfer or card. Once we have your signed confirmation and the deposit, you're booked and we start placing your lodges, flights and permits. A few items, such as gorilla permits, peak-season lodges and internal flights, can need full payment at booking, and your proposal says what's due and when.
The balance is due no later than 60 days before your arrival date, the same two ways. If you book within 60 days of travel, you pay in full when you confirm, on one invoice.
Before you fly, you receive a travel pack and access to your My Trip app: your day-by-day itinerary, a packing list for your route and season, tipping guidance and who to contact. For visas and vaccinations we point you to the official sources and your travel doctor, starting with Smartraveller, because the answers are personal.
Your guide and ground team look after you on the road, and you have 24/7 support from us while you travel. If weather, roads or flight times force a change, we arrange the best alternative and tell you promptly.
We check in once you're back. If something isn't right during your trip, tell your guide or us straight away so we can fix it on the spot. Formal complaints go in writing to [email protected] within 30 days of your return.
| When | What's due |
|---|---|
| When you confirm your booking | 50% deposit |
| 60 days before your arrival date | The remaining balance |
| Booking within 60 days of arrival | Full payment when you confirm |
We quote in Australian dollars unless we agree otherwise. Every invoice offers bank transfer and a card payment link, so you can use whichever suits you.
We'd rather you know this before you pay. If you cancel, the deposit isn't refundable, subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, and these fees apply from the date we receive your written notice at [email protected].
| Cancelling | What applies |
|---|---|
| More than 90 days before travel | Deposit forfeited, no further charges |
| 60 to 90 days before travel | 50% of the total trip cost |
| 30 to 59 days before travel | 75% of the total trip cost |
| Less than 30 days before travel | 100% of the total trip cost |
Lodges, flights and permits are paid to suppliers on your behalf, and many of those payments can't be recovered, so a refund can be smaller than the schedule suggests. That's why travel insurance with cancellation cover is required for every guest: it's your own policy, and we suggest taking it out when you pay your deposit. The full wording is in our terms and conditions.
It's a fair question to ask of any company. Here's what you can check for yourself.
More on what to look for: how to choose a Tanzania safari company.
A 50% deposit confirms your booking. You pay it once you've seen your itinerary and quote, signed your itinerary confirmation and received our invoice. Some items, like gorilla permits, can need full payment up front.

By bank transfer or card. Every invoice from Kingse Safaris Pty Ltd carries both options. We quote in Australian dollars for Australian travellers and pounds for UK travellers.
You're invoiced by Kingse Safaris Pty Ltd (ABN 37 698 821 886), an Australian company you can look up on ABN Lookup. We hold public liability and professional indemnity insurance, our Tanzanian operation is licensed (Tourism Licence 036650), and the Australian Consumer Law applies. Call us on 1800 KINGSE (1800 546 473) if you'd like to talk it through.
If you cancel, the deposit isn't refundable, subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Cancellation fees rise as your travel date gets closer. The schedule is on this page and the full wording is in our terms and conditions.
Yes. Travel insurance is required for every guest and is your own policy. It should cover cancellation, medical costs including emergency evacuation, personal liability and baggage. We suggest taking it out when you pay your deposit.
No. Nothing is due until you've seen your tailored itinerary and quote and chosen to confirm. Until then, arrangements are provisional and subject to availability.
That depends on your route and your own health. Check the official government site for each country and Smartraveller, and see a travel doctor or your GP. On yellow fever, we generally tell people the vaccine is worth having, as one shot lasts a lifetime, but your doctor always has the last say.
Tell us where you'd like to go and when, and we'll come back with a tailored proposal. No obligation, no pressure. Prefer to talk? Call 1800 KINGSE (1800 546 473) or WhatsApp +61 492 037 622, or email [email protected].

Pick up the phone if you'd rather talk it through. We spend a good part of the year moving between Australia and Africa, so if we miss you, WhatsApp Samara and we'll come back to you whatever the time zone.
